US Military Ramps Up Medical Supply-Chain to Combat Covid-19
September 1st, 2020
During the current Covid19 pandemic, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has been instrumental in procuring the PPE and medical equipment to support US DoD efforts in combating the virus. While the DLAs mission is to support the military services and combatant commands, the agency charter has been expanded to assist federal, state, local and tribal entities in need by leveraging strategic supplier alliances, prime vendor relationships, and other tailored logistics relationships. The DLA was also responsible for stocking the Navy hospital ships USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy with critical protective equipment, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, fuel, food and repair parts.
